Business, Law and Computing School Events and News Stories

Throughout the year we have a range of events that take place across the school to support you throughout your time with us. Take a look at some of the events that take place and learn more about our school.

* First year law students, get a taste of ‘life as a solicitor’ at the annual first year legal advice exhibition. The students were given a legal  problem to solve, and they had to come up with solutions to the various legal issues posed and give  pertinent legal advice, exactly like a solicitor would, to their clients, in this case, their lecturers.

Our Latest Successes...

We are proud to announce that we are one of the top 10 UK universities mostly likely to produce graduates who go on to own or manage a business (Capital on Tap, 2021), find out more about this excellent news.

The study conducted by Capital on Tap showed that 3.35% of our alumni hold c-suite level positions, such as CEO and Executive Director, 9.03% of alumni with a title of Founder and 2.54% being freelance.

On average, the University climbed in the rankings by almost 13 places at subject level. This is the 7th highest average climb rate of all the 120 UK universities included in the Guide. Bucks also improved its ranking in more than 10 out of the 14 (71%) Guide’s subject areas, the 10th best performance across all UK universities.

Highlights at subject level include:

  • Bucks New University is the fastest-climbing university (up 22 places) for Accounting & Finance, ranking 25th in the UK, and 3rd in the South East.
  • The University climbed 20 places to 14th for Business, Management and Marketing; and ranks 10th (up 14 places) for Sociology in London and South East.

Buckinghamshire New University is once again in the top quartile for higher education institutions in the UK, according to the the latest results in the National Student Survey (NSS), exceeding sector average across most of the questions.

The University is in the top 20 of all UK Universities, when all 27 questions in the survey are averaged, and third among Universities in London and the South-East.

A well-respected Associate Professor in the School of Business, Law, & Computing at Buckinghamshire New University has been announced as a Teaching Fellow (NTF) in Advance HE's 2020 Teaching Excellence Awards for Higher Education.

Richard Jones, who specialises in software engineering, artificial intelligence, and digital learning, is one of 56 new National Teaching Fellows - the sixth year in a row Bucks New University has been recognised in the annual sector-leading awards.
