Applications open for innovations to help health and social care

Applications are open for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and entrepreneurs with new and exciting ideas to apply for a European Regional Development-funded programme tackling health and social care challenges.
Bucks HSC Ventures is a virtual health and social care innovation programme hosted by Buckinghamshire New University at its campus in Queen Alexandra Road, High Wycombe. It held its launch event at the University this week.
The programme is accepting applications until 5 October for its first round of support for people or organisations with proposals.
Nadine Frisk, (pictured) Head of Bucks HSC Ventures, said: “There is a big health and social care provider-supported drive to identify and accelerate the introduction of appropriate innovations into these sectors.
“We can help if you are an SME or entrepreneur with a fantastic idea but facing challenges around getting in front of the right people to validate your idea.
“We do this by working directly with health and social care provider to ensure new business ideas meet their needs.
“The aim is to make Buckinghamshire the go-to destination for health and social care innovation. Whatever your idea is, we want to hear about it.”
Bucks HSC Ventures is working with health and social care providers to share expertise, knowledge, networks and facilities .
Successful applicants will receive a series of lean workshops, expert masterclasses, access to health and social care providers, the opportunity to speak with patients, prototyping facilities and more.
“We will give people the support and access they require to ensure their innovation can make a difference,” added Ms Frisk.
“This will include direct access to health and social care providers and a pool of experts to help SMEs and entrepreneurs prototype, test, refine and push their idea forward.
“We will also give vital funding advice which can then be used as a catalyst to take an innovation to the market.”
Bucks HSC Ventures is a partnership between Buckinghamshire New University, Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, Oxford Academic Health Science Network, Buckinghamshire County Council and Buckinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group.
