Missenden Abbey gears up for Summer Fair
Date: 23rd Jun 2017
The annual Summer Fair at Missenden Abbey, in London Road, Great Missenden, takes place from 11am-4pm on Sunday 16 July in aid of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.
Missenden Abbey is owned by Bucks New University and its Summer Fair, now in its fourth year, includes a cake bake off, vegetable growing competition, cream teas, and Pimm’s stall, as well as over 50 craft stalls.
General Manager Eva Neupauer-Jones said: “Our Summer Fair is a key event in our social calendar and we welcome the community into Missenden Abbey to share in this great British tradition.
“We are always keen to support a local charity’s fundraising efforts and look forward to working with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity this year.”
Jane Miles, CEO for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be involved and to benefit from this years’ Summer Fair.
“Being part of such an event in Great Missenden, the home of Roald Dahl, is rather special for us as this is also where it began 25 years ago.
“Funds raised will be used to help create more Roald Dahl Specialist Children’s Nurses around the country as well as supporting our family grants programme designed to help families struggling with the cost of looking after a sick child.
“We believe every child has the right to a marvellous life no matter how ill they are or how long their life may be.”
