University Campus Aylesbury Vale has opened its doors to its second intake of students and the first to begin their studies at the campus. Over 200 new students have joined more than 100 who are returning for their second year of study with us.
We are running more programmes this year and have seen growth in other programmes. New courses to the campus include foundation degrees in Health & Social Care and Assistant Practitioner. Those two courses strengthen the campus’s provision in integrated healthcare, adding to the assisted living laboratory courses and Foundation Degree in Early Years Care.
Our partnership with Bucks New University, Aylesbury College and Bucks County Council on the Social Work Academy has also brought a range of new courses for those already in the social work profession and those wishing to join it.
We have a second intake of BEng Mechanical Engineering students joining us as well. Our already popular Counselling courses have been well subscribed again and we welcome the entire counselling tutor team from Aylesbury College to their new base at University Campus Aylesbury Vale. They are running more groups than last year, across all levels of Counselling Studies. We have a range of computing and cyber courses on the timetable in 2016-17 alongside our Foundation Degree in Computing.
Our new students have been enjoying the comfortable and professional learning environment of the campus. This year we have added a study area containing PCs and textbooks for those wishing to undertake private study outside of their core timetable. The breakout spaces have already proved popular for group work and professional discussion amongst students. With a generally warm and sunny September, students and tutors have enjoyed the attractive space on the canalside which has become one of Aylesbury’s nicest public spaces.
Looking ahead to the rest of this academic year, we will be recruiting students throughout the year as we look to add cohorts to some programmes in January. Look out for some bold new advertising on the front and rear of the campus building designed to attract more people to our range of courses and programmes.
