The Chief Nursing Officer for England and the Head of Creative at Google are among figures set to receive honorary degrees during a week of graduation celebrations at Buckinghamshire New University from 5-9 September.
Jane Cummings has held the position of Chief Nursing Officer, England's most senior nurse in the NHS, since 2012 and will receive an Honorary Doctorate in a ceremony at the Wycombe Swan Theatre in High Wycombe. She developed Compassion in Practice, an initiative which strives to put far reaching changes in place to deliver real improvements for patients and the staff who care for them. Cummings is recognised for her outstanding career in nursing and strong relationship with the University.
Olivier Rabenschlag, Head of Creative at Google and based in Los Angeles, graduated from Bucks New University in 2002 with a first class degree in Graphic Design and Advertising.
He receives an Honorary Master's for his outstanding national and international achievements and numerous awards of excellence in advertising, along with his continued association with and support for the University since his graduation.
Honorary Master's will also be bestowed on:
James Grieve, Joint Artistic Director of Paines Plough, the UK's national theatre of new plays.
Lorraine Darke, Executive Director at The Business Continuity Institute.
Captain Steve Rees, Head of Training at CTC Aviation, a partner of Bucks New University.
Helen Parr, who completed a Master's in Education at Bucks New University and is a Teaching Fellow at the University.
Honorary Fellowships will be bestowed on:
Lori Flynn, who has more than 20 years' experience in the IT services industry and has been a member of Bucks New University's Governing Council since 2009.
Antonia Byatt, Director of the Cheltenham Literature Festival and a member of the University's Governing Council since 2009.
Keith Ryan, a member of Bucks New University's Governing Council since 2009.
An Honorary Doctorate will also be bestowed on:
Paul Stead, a Bucks New University graduate who has been a catalyst in founding a new Masters course in the Internet of Things and set up Brewery London, a creative business catalyst.
Professor Rebecca Bunting, Vice-Chancellor of Bucks New University, said: "We are proud and honoured to bestow these honorary awards.
"Our awardees are chosen in recognition of their outstanding achievements in their fields and because they are an inspiration to our graduating students. We are delighted to recognise such a celebrated group of individuals this year."
