Buckinghamshire New University students are developing marketing plans to help boost awareness of charity Scannappeal's spring/summer Open Gardens fundraising push.
Open Gardens is an initiative held throughout the spring and summer by people helping to raise funds for Scannappeal, which buys life-saving medical equipment for Amersham, Stoke Mandeville, Wycombe and Community Hospitals throughout Buckinghamshire.
Scannappeal is working with students in Bucks Business School at Bucks New University to come up with ways to raise the profile of Open Gardens, encouraging volunteers and potential supporters to get involved and open their own garden in aid of the charity.
Lisa Trivett, Director of Scannappeal, met students studying a module in marketing communications at the University to see the outline of their ideas, including branding, logos and posters.
Senior Lecturer Ruth Hickmott said: "The University enjoys a long-standing relationship with Scannappeal and I am looking forward to providing them with our ideas.
"So far, I have been delighted with the depth of research and the range of workable suggestions the students have produced."
The work is part of the students' course and they will be submitting final ideas for assessment.
Student Oliver Bonner-Davies, studying BA (Hons) Marketing, said: "The opportunity to apply what we have learnt to a real client has been fantastic and the fact that it will also help to raise funds for such a great local charity is hugely rewarding."
