MA Art and Design Show 2014
Date: 7th Jun 2016
The public are being encouraged to go along and enjoy eye-catching work at Buckinghamshire New University's annual MA Art and Design Show, from Friday 5 December to Thursday 11 December.
The MA Art and Design Practice course involves disciplines including Ceramics; Fine Art; Furniture Design; Jewellery and Silversmithing; Printmaking; Product Design; and Spatial Design.
The MA in Conservation of Furniture and Decorative Arts sees students working on a diverse range of objects, from historic work to iconic 20th century pieces.
The Show features work by full and part-time students, and includes a selection of the students' best work created during 2014.
A private viewing of the Show takes place from 6pm-9pm on Thursday 4 December. To attend please email firstname.lastname@example.org. The Show is then open from:
10am-4pm on Friday 5, Monday 8, Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 December;
10am-7pm on Tuesday 9 December.
An MA Art and Design Open Evening also takes place from 5pm-7pm on Tuesday 9 December, where visitors can meet the course team and find out more about art and design postgraduate programmes starting in January.
Lynn Jones, Head of Academic Department - Furniture, said: "The work is up and in place and we are ready to display it to the public. We would encourage people to come in and take a look at the students' pieces.
"We have some outstanding work on display this year and cannot wait for the Show to open so that everyone can enjoy it!
"Students have used materials such as Vietnamese bamboo, stretched steel and reclaimed climbing rope to make this exhibition totally refreshing, unexpected and vibrant.
"From massive ceramic pots designed by computer to the tiniest of delicate jewellery, the products generated by these students are unique and commercial, challenging the norms of designing products and of making art."
The Show coincides with the fourth anniversary of the National School of Furniture (NSF), which is a partnership between Bucks New University and City of Oxford College.
Third-year BA (Hons) Graphic Arts student Jack Blackstone designed the invitations and banners for the Show. He said: "I am proud that the identity I have created has been praised by all who have been involved in the Shows."
