Access and Participation Plan

The Office for Students (OfS) has a statutory duty to promote equality of access to, and participation in, higher education in England. Access and Participation Plans set out how higher education providers will improve equality of opportunity for underrepresented groups to access, succeed in and progress from higher education.

They include:

  • the provider’s ambition for change
  • what it plans to do to achieve that change
  • the targets it has set
  • the investment it will make to deliver the plan

Buckinghamshire New University’s 2019-20 Access and Participation Plan has been approved by the OfS and applies to students starting at the University in 2019-20

Prior to the establishment of the OfS, the Office for Fair Access (OFFA) regulated fair access to higher education and providers produced an annual Access Agreement. You can find our Access Agreements for the OfS website. Access Agreements were submitted annually, and apply to students who started in the academic year denoted. For example, the 2018-19 Access Agreement applies to students starting in 2018-19.
