Health Week at BNU: 4 – 11 May 2024

Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) is celebrating ‘Health Week at BNU’ from 4 – 11 May 2024.

The week-long campaign will recognise the immeasurable contribution healthcare professionals make to society and demonstrate the knowledge and skills of staff and students across BNU’s healthcare provision.

BNU’s School of Nursing and Midwifery, School of Health and Social Care Professions, Impact Centres and Bucks Students’ Union have come together to recognise the week in a series of events including mindfulness workshops and activities, student paramedic mental health training, and two health conferences: International Nurses Day Conference and the Drug and Alcohol Conference. Both conferences will host guest speakers and industry professionals with opportunity for questions and networking throughout.

The public will also be invited to take part in the week with an opportunity to learn lifesaving skills at our ‘Restart a Heart’ session taking place at our High Wycombe Campus on Friday 10 May. The session will be led by Paul Wheeler, Senior Lecturer at BNU, and he will cover defibrillators (also known as AEDs) and their use in Basic Life Support (BLS) and CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), what AEDs are, how they work, who can use them, how to use them and where they are located on our University campuses. Register to attend via this link, where further information is provided.
