Sports Bursary

Sports bursary
The sports bursary has been established to support talented student athletes to progress in their sport without compromising their academic progress. A fixed number of bursaries are available in any given academic year.

The scheme includes:

• financial assistance
• free access to sporting facilities
• sports science support.

Eligibility
A bursary of £1,000 can be awarded to athletes competing in any sporting discipline recognised by Sport England. To be considered for a bursary applicants must be a student of the Faculty of Design, Media & Management and be performing at a county standard or above.

Applications must be made on the official form. The closing date for applications is 30 November each year. Applications for the bursary will be reviewed by a panel. Successful applicants must agree to the requirements below.

Requirements
In return for these benefits the University requires successful applicants to:

• represent the University in key British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) competitions
• make themselves available for up to two promotional events per year as requested by the University to keep the Faculty updated of their sporting achievements and progress
