Music
Being at Bucks offers a fantastic opportunity to get
involved in the music scene – whatever your genre! Naturally the
Students' Union is at the hub of
most of the student music scene with varying entertainment
on offer. As a bonus Bucks Students' Union also provides many
opportunities for students to get involved at the sharp end as
either promoters or brand managers for the regular club events.
If you are into the band scene then there are weekly live music
events at the High Wycombe venue providing showcases for local and
student talent, plus monthly gigs which are growing in stature. The
Venue aims to bring the next big thing – recent acts include
Editors, Towers of London and Air Traffic. You will also find a
small band scene in Wycombe at a couple of local venues (White
Horse/Roundabout/Nags Head) which tend to be back room of a pub
gigs but are good for checking out local talent.
Those who like to party are
well looked after at the SU venue with successful nights at Club
Tropicana in High Wycombe. Wycombe also hosts FLIRT! which is
a national student club/party night that features theme nights,
fancy dress and great bar promotions. High Wycombe does have a few
bars that put a cheesy DJ on. These tend to be local town oriented
but are great for a change of scenery.
For the more serious clubber again the SU provides a range of
events to suit all tastes. We work with outside promoters to bring
in good quality clubbing and acts into the Venue there are urban
promoters who bring 1 Xtra DJs and the ever-popular EZ on a regular
basis.
Other events such as Funk NU also look after the mash ups
and the beats. In town student promoters put on Drum and Bass
events in the local pubs and the local nightclubs put on house and
urban events with regular PA's.
