Institute of Research in Nursing (IRN)

The Institute of Research in Nursing (IRN) was established in September 2013 as a partnership institute between Buckinghamshire New University and NHS Trusts in North-West London.

Our vision is to bring together clinicians and academics representing excellence in Nursing Practice, Innovation & Research.

We aim to:

  • support excellence in nursing and evidence-based practice, inter-professional practice development, education and research;
  • continually improve the experience of service users and carers;
  • continually improve learning experience of students;
  • contribute to enhancing the NHS care environment through the generation of a culture of quality improvement and advanced scholarship.

The IRN is led by director Professor Susan Procter and deputy director Dr Deborah Mazhindu.
