The Faculty of Design, Media and Management Early Career Research Network

The Bucks Faculty of Design, Media and Management Early Career Research Network Group (DMM ECR Network) provides a supportive environment for researchers to meet, share information, seek help and foster collaborations. Above all the group aims to help researchers be fulfilled and confident in their role, pursue their goals and feel part of an eloquent research community.

We welcome pre and post-doctoral researchers, those involved in practice-based research and more experienced lecturers engaged in research for the first time. Members share information and debate research issues at meetings, workshops and on the Network's facebook group.

Dr Helena Chance, the network group leader, offers one-to-one support and arranges workshops and training events. These include support for writing a conference abstract, publishing in a peer review journal, networking, goal-setting and skills development. Researchers in the faculty can also join the peer support group, ‘The Rehearsal Room’, to share work and obtain feedback in a safe, non-judgmental and nurturing environment.

We also run a range of workshops. Here’s just a couple of the workshops held last year:

  • ‘Research into Practice, Practice into Research’.
Prof Neil Brownsword and Prof Gloria Moss, whose work bridges academia and industry, showed how their different models of research engage audiences outside academia.
  • Zotero bibliographic database training, led by Dr Egle Dagilyte.
