Working in Britain
The British Government has relaxed the regulations affecting
the rights of international
students to undertake paid employment. You may now work up to 20
hours a week during term time and full-time during vacations,
although there are restrictions on the kind of work you can do. For
further information visit the international students section of the
Department
for Education and Skills website.
Welfare
benefits
Non-EU students cannot claim welfare benefits. Advice on the
regulations for EU students should be obtained from the Department
of Social Security. You'll find England, and Bucks in
particular, a welcoming place in which to live and study.
Bucks statement
Bucks has exactly the
same powers and responsibilities as a university for all taught
awards at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The New
University differs from a university in that it does not currently
award its own research degrees. Bucks has over a hundred research
students but the awards are made by another university.
