Introduction

Tandberg is the name of the Video Conferencing System we have at Buckinghamshire New University.

Booking

To book the kit fill out the Video Conferencing section of the Adhoc Room Bookings Form - BOOK THE KIT

The Room Management team will only book the equipment for you. Before you can use the Tandberg Kit you are strongly advised to have a 10 minutes training session to familarize yourself with the kit and how to plug it in and make a call. To arrange this session please contact shoole01@bucks.ac.uk

Locations

High Wycombe

The rooms configured to use the Conferencing Kit before October are N3.01 - N3.06 at the QAR campus.

Post October the Tandberg Units will work in more teaching rooms across the campus.

Uxbridge

At Uxbridge the network will allow the Tandberg Unit there to be plugged into any live socket. The Unit called JAST will mainly reside in meeting room 2.13.

Problem Resolution

All problems that do occur should be referred to the Service Desk (01494 522141 ext 3295) who will the escalate it to a specialist if it can not be resolved on the phone.

Employees should have the knowledge to perform certain basic checks before they contact the Service Desk. This is so the Service Desk can determine which specialist to contact to resolve the incident. The training session will help you understand how to do these checks.

Is the Unit Switched on?

Are the batteries in the remote?

Is it plugged in to a live designated port?

Can you see that is registered as not connected?

Using ISDN with the Tandberg Units:

ISDN is a high speed telephone line used primarily to transmit video data and audio. The Tandberg video conference units can use ISDN to make and receive video and audio calls, and each unit has its own ISDN number.

This means that anyone with a standard telephone (audio only, including mobile phones) or ISDN video conference system (Tandberg, Sony, Polycom etc) can connect to our video conference units by dialling the appropriate ISDN numbers listed below.

Please make sure you know which Tandberg unit is being used for your video conference session when booking, so that those dialling into the conference aren't connected to the wrong session. Each Tandberg unit is named (SEC, THAY, DAVROS and CAAN) and the name is clearly labelled on the back of each unit.
