Student support package
Students at
Buckinghamshire New University receive support package that
provides a student experience which is unique in UK Higher
Education.
Not only will the majority of students receive a £500 cash bursary
each year, but they will also be entitled to a fantastic package of
other benefits, including support which enhances the learning
experience and activities arranged through the Students' Union.
Known as the Big Deal, the package
includes...
Faculty support close to the learning
experience
What?
Support that is linked to fields of study
(materials, travel, and external events, for instance) and
enhancements to the way students are able to build up a personal
record of achievement that helps them move effectively through
their course to a final career.
Why?
We believe that all students should be supported
in getting the best start to their careers.
What? Tickets
for all of our gigs, club nights, comedy, theme parties and events
will be totally free for Bucks students. With our extra funding
from the University we can promote a new, wider range of better
quality events that much bigger places would envy as well as
keeping the things that our students already enjoy! We’ve got stuff
happening all the time and there’s something for everyone, ever
wanted to go to a comedy show, catch some live music or go to a
club that you just couldn’t afford? You don’t have to worry about
that at Bucks.
Why? We believe an active and varied social
life is a key ingredient in becoming a well-rounded graduate.
Mixing with new people and sharing new experiences is important. No
other university in the country supports social activities of their
students to this extent.

What? Bucks Students can play nearly 30
different sports at a competitive level without any charge. We pay
for your kit and your match fees, we get you to the matches, we pay
for coaches for your teams so that you can play for free. At other
universities this could cost you hundreds of pounds!
Why? We believe in the benefits of a healthy
mind and body and that the camaraderie and leadership skills gained
whilst representing the University are things that will stay with
you long after you graduate.

What? A full
programme of activities throughout the year and accessible to all,
as diverse as cooking lessons, motor mechanics, salsa classes,
museum trips, table tennis, poetry reading and potholing absolutely
free to Bucks students.
Why? We believe that a well planned programme
of taster sessions, trips, lessons and showcases will give our
students opportunity to gain new experiences and try a range of new
activities that may be unavailable to them elsewhere.

What? Soon we should have the funding to
further develop the Student Rep scheme by rewarding reps for their
hard work and enhancing their training.
Why? To ensure your voice as a student at Bucks
will be heard and we can fully support you throughout your time at
University. This funding will mean the network of students
representing your views and acting on your concerns will be more
effective than ever before.

What? Nearly all of Bucks students benefit from this -

too!
