Fees & Bursaries

£1,500 cash plus the equivalent
value in direct support
If you’re a UK or EU student enrolling for the first time on a full
time undergraduate course that starts in September 2010, the fee
for tuition will be £3,290 a year. But, the good news is
that neither you nor your family will be required to pay up
front. Instead, you will be able to take out a loan to cover your
tuition fees, which you won’t have to pay back until after you
graduate.
Student tuition loans are very different from
loans that are offered by banks or building societies. For a
start, you don’t have to begin repaying the loan until you’re
earning at least £15,000 a year. You will repay 9% of anything
you earn over £15,000 gross per year before deduction of income
tax, or national insurance.
As a guide, if you earn an annual salary of
£19,000, you would pay 9% of £4,000, or £360 in the year. This
would be £30 per month.

A student experience
like no other
At Bucks New University, we
believe that the student experience is paramount and the University
is working together with our Students’ Union and our faculties
to deliver a student experience like no other.
The £500 cash bursary is payable to all
full-time undergraduates who are paying £3,290 and studying for
their first degree qualification. If you are unsure whether you are
eligible or not, please contact the Student
Centre.
This is a non-means-tested cash bursary
payment, which will be transferred directly into your bank
account in February. For more information please see the Big Deal
section of the paying
your fees document.
In addition, the University is investing a
further £1 million per year in study and other opportunities to
help you achieve the best possible degree award, improve your
employability and provide a truly fulfilling university experience.
We believe that this support package, known as the Big
Deal, is unique in the sector.
