This course offers a basic introduction to the principles of woodmachining. Over the ten weeks, the course will cover the basic working practices and machinery used in woodworking for the preparation of timber and wood-based board material.

Schedule

Week 1: Workshop health and safety induction and cutting list

Week 2: Conversion of material to cutting list

Week 3: Planning to width and thickness

Week 4: Cutting to final length

Week 5: Marking out and cutting joints

Week 6: Cutting joints

Week 7: Using the Spindle Molders to shape legs

Week 8: Assemble table frame; cut chipboard and lippings for table top

Week 9: Veneer top in Press                       

Week 10: Fix top to frame

Additional requirements:

Suitable workshop footwear should be worn.

Award: Certificate of attendance

Duration: 10 weeks
