This course is designed for a student with either basic or no knowledge of Photoshop (on either Mac or PC), and will take them to an intermediate level. By the end of the course, students will be able to use all but the most advanced functions of the programme, allowing them to produce professional looking graphics projects, such as paintings, posters/flyers, and photo-manipulated images.

The course achieves this by six weeks of detailed technical instruction, followed by four weeks self-directed learning, where the student peruses an area of specialisation of their choice.

Schedule

Week 1: An introduction to the Apple Mac environment

Week 2: Introducing Photoshop, and bitmap based image manipulation; creating a document, understanding resolutions, and DPI

Week 3: The tool bar part 1: selection tools

Week 4: The tool bar part 2: painting tools

Week 5: The tool bar part 3: vector based & type tools

Week 6: Adjustments, filters, scanning & photo manipulation

Week 7: Specialisation & student led learning

Week 8: Specialisation & student led learning

Week 9: Specialisation & student led learning

Week 10: Specialisation & student led learning

Award: Certificate of attendance

Rupert works in printmaking and digital design, and uses Photoshop on a daily basis.  He has taught this course for over ten years, and is adept at coping with the varied needs and aims of students on this course.
