Certified Fitness Instructor
Overview
This course is aimed at those wishing to enter
the fitness industry as a Fitness Instructor and who require a
qualification which will be recognised by employers and the
Register for Exercise Professionals (REP).
Certified Fitness Instructor is the preferred
fitness qualifications for candidates who want to make a start in
the fitness industry, whether they are working towards being
employed by a reputable health club or setting up their own
business as a personal trainer.
As the industry continues to standardise the
fitness profession, individuals are required to achieve a minimum
qualification for employment and this course will allow you to
learn the fundamental information to be a certified gym
instructor.
This course is registered with the Register of
Exercise Professionals (REP), and the certification is Occupational
Standards Level 2 Instructing Exercise and Fitness.
Course content
The
theoretical and practical components of the course include the
following topics:
· anatomy and
physiology
· kinesiology (how
the body moves)
· warm ups, cool
downs and stretching
· cardiovascular
work
· muscular strength
and endurance
· how to teach free
weights and fixed resistance equipment
· the use of
cardiovascular equipment and the promotion of physical
activity
· introduction to
core and functional training
· effective
customer care and promoting physical activity.
Award
Certified Fitness Instructor Qualification (equivalent to NVQ level
2)
