Taught in a brand new fashion studio in our Red Shed adjacent to our award winning textiles courses, this exciting new development in fashion has its emphasis in a creative yet informed approach to designing with its unique emphasis on ethics and sustainability for the future.
Exploring materials and understanding global supply chains will enable you to consider how we might design for the future well being of the planet, whilst maintaining the innovation of the British Fashion scene.
You will learn how the trend and forecasting industry works, how to research and develop ideas to produce exciting but wearable fashion. Developing skills in visual communication for fashion, pattern cutting and manufacture, the course is structured to enable you to develop your own strengths culminating in a small collection and portfolio to launch you into the design industry on graduation. You will benefit from our links with industry and opportunities to work on live projects and to hear from those in the industry who are working to develop an ethical approach to designing for the future.

Issues about child labour, supply chains, social and corporate responsibility addressed in the course.
This is the first undergraduate fashion design course to tackle fashion’s ethical issues and has industry support for the direction of this new programme.

Duration: Three years
Attendance: An average attendance of three or three and a half days per week can be expected. Specific days and times of study vary per course and formal timetables are usually issued a month prior to your course start date.
