Making the journey through higher education can be very
demanding. There are the academic pressures – including the need to
organise, prioritise and keep to deadlines. Then there are
the personal pressures too, for example relationship difficulties,
family problems, finances to juggle, transitions to make in
terms of your social life and the new experiences you
encounter.
The university recognises that things can often be far from
easy. Many decisions can be reached and many problems
clarified and resolved through discussion with friends, family or
academic staff. There are times, however, when seeking more
objective, professional help away from the familiar daily
environment can be particularly beneficial. By supporting you
personally through counselling, we can also support you
academically and professionally.
A whole range of students accessed our service last year.
92% of students who completed evaluation questionnaires at the end
of counselling reported feeling that the sessions had really helped
them understand and deal with their issues.
