The Money
Advice Centre has offices at the High Wycombe and Uxbridge
campuses. We administer the Access to Learning Fund and the
University Fund, while providing advice on budgeting and general
money matters. Applications to the funds will be
accepted from 1 November 2009 - contact the Money Advice Centre for
further information.
Details are below, but please also scroll down on the left
for our full menu of pages.
Access to Learning Fund
If you're on a low income, the Access to Learning Fund may be
able to help you. It's there to meet particular costs that
are not covered by other grants and can offer support if you're in
financial hardship, facing an unexpected financial crisis or
considering giving up your course due to lack of money.
Full-time and part-time students who are in receipt of their
maximum financial statutory support package are eligible to
apply. Part-time students must be studying the equivalent of
50% of a full-time course.
Certain categories of students fall into priority groups for
financial help from the Access to Learning Fund. Please
contact the Money Advice Centre for further information.
Payments are usually given as grants, which do not have to be
repaid. To find out how to apply, please contact the Money Advice Centre.
The University Fund
Although
international and EU students are expected to have sufficient funds
to complete their course, the University Fund can sometimes
help these students on low incomes. If you are
ineligible for assistance from ALF, find yourself in financial
hardship and worry that you may be forced to give up your course,
it’s always worth making an application. Funds are limited,
so you are only able to apply if you are already in
your second year or beyond. Payments are usually given as
grants and do not have to be repaid.
Money Doctors
We are part of the Financial Services Authority Money
Doctors Project. We are located in N1 at the High Wycombe
Campus and at Uxbridge campus. We can offer individual money
management appointments as well as workshop and group sessions and
fun Taste Test events. Please contact
us for further information.
Please do not wait until things get out of
hand before contacting us. We are here to help and advise,
but we cannot provide an emergency service.
