HEFCE Performance Indicators
HEFCE publishes performance indicators for all HEIs annually,
in 6 main categories:
Access
Non-continuation
Projected outcomes
Research output
Employment outcomes
Disability indicators
Results for Bucks New University are generally in line
with the institution benchmark with some measures performing
well.
There are three indicators related to widening access (in
addition to that concerned specifically with
disability). These are:
State sector entrants
Social class lllm, lV and V
Low participation neighbourhoods
Bucks New University performs well in terms of recruiting
students from state schools, exceeding its benchmark and
outperforming most of its competitors.
In recruiting students from lower social classes, Bucks New
University again exceeds its targets.
The measure for widening access for which Bucks New
University has performed least well in the years for which
data have been published relates to students from low participation
neighbourhoods, particularly those on part-time
courses.
However, improvements in performance
have been achieved recently and Bucks New University is close
to achieving the benchmarks related to its subject and entry
qualification profile. Work continues to target students from
deprived backgrounds who have the potential to benefit from
higher
education.
