Academic Quality Directorate

The Academic Quality Directorate is a central support department for Buckinghamshire New University. We’re responsible for providing a range of services for students, academics and associated employees.

Students

The Assessments & Awards team oversees centrally organised examinations. Information about exams including exams timetables can be found here.

The Quality & Enhancement team manage the procedures, including the regulations for all courses, Student and Academic Staff Quality Handbooks, and information governing appeals and academic misconduct. Our procedures and regulations, known as formal documents, can be found here.

The Student Centre at High Wycombe administers enrolments, handles liaison with the SLC and also looks after withdrawals, transfers and suspensions. 

Quality and Standards

We’re continually evaluating our processes to ensure that our courses and student services reach the highest standards.  We work to ensure that we enhance the student experience as well as meeting the requirements of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.  Academic Quality handle everything from validation and external examiner administration through to annual review and evaluation.

General Information

We maintain the archive for all the institution’s committees and boards of examiners, verify awards and oversee graduation. Colleagues can refer to us on issues such as collaborative provision, validations, external examining, certification and curriculum management.
