Academic Schools
We teach a wide variety of subjects at Bucks,
which are organised into a number of different academic
schools.
Faculty of Design Media &
Management
School of Applied
Management & Law
The School of Applied Management & Law
offers an interesting and wide range of innovative and
entrepreneurial courses that have strong links to professional
bodies and are practice-oriented.
Whether you are interested in general
business, international management, sorts management and science,
the music and entertainment industry, advertising and promotions,
human resource management, marketing, accounting and finance, or
events and festival management, all our programmes encourage you to
put theory into practice and give you opportunities to gain
valuable experience in your chosen field of study.
The School was one of the first to
offer music and entertainment management programmes in
the UK, and is now entering its fifteenth successive year of
offering students the opportunity to combine a solid understanding
of applied management skills, with an appreciation of the unique
nature of music and entertainment products. Delivered by a team of
dedicated employees, the majority of whom still work in influential
positions in the industry, the result is a teaching approach that
prioritises the importance of hands-on management experience.
If you are interested in studying law in
its contemporary context and you wish to enter the legal
professions or other careers in management, local government,
politics, the police or commerce, we offer a wide range of courses,
which are recognised by The Law Society and Bar Council of England
and Wales as Qualifying Law Degrees.
The School was also one of the first to
develop undergraduate education in areas such as the Rugby,
Football and Golf programmes, the work-based conversion to honours
and the Commercial Pilot Training course.
School of Design, Craft & Visual Arts
Unrivalled workshop facilities, excellent industry contacts, and a
diverse range of exciting courses makes the School of Design, Craft
& Visual Arts one of the premiere locations to study in a range
of creative disciplines.
This stimulating environment exposes students to rich traditions
in the creation, conservation and interpretation of cultural
artefacts, as well to the science and technologies of current and
future production processes and the creative industries.
Experimentation and confidence-building practices lead to
establishing the knowledge and skills required to move between
traditional disciplines and the new multimedia and internet
technologies required by emerging and established creative
industries.
All courses are under-pinned by a supportive programme of
critical studies enabling students to further develop their
awareness of the history, theory and context of the production and
consumption of visual imagery.
School of Applied Production & New Media
The School of Applied Production & New Media
covers a wide range of technology and production-based disciplines,
with a strong focus on developing the skills and knowledge needed
to secure successful employment in the creative and IT
industries.
