Sporting partnerships

We boast excellent links with industry, associations and governing bodies of sport, and these partnerships enhance the way our students gain knowledge and engage in activities at the University.

Football partnerships
We have exciting partnerships with football clubs across the region including Wycombe Wanderers FC, Reading Football Club, and Reading Women's Football Club.

UCFB, a joint initiative between Bucks and UCFB College of Football Business, has also been set up dedicated to the study of the football industry.

Wycombe Wanderers FC
For over a decade, Bucks New University has been working with Wycombe Wanderers Football Club. We have recently become Wycombe Wanderers’ main club partner, making us the only university in the country to appear on the front of the first team match shirts of a major Football League team.

Football Association
The University works closely with the FA on several major projects, including the Football Ambassador Scheme, which enables our students to be ‘ambassadors for football’ through encouraging greater participation in local clubs and schools. This successful scheme helps students to combine their academic learning with practical application and gives the local FA high quality volunteers to help roll out their strategy.

UCFB, a joint initiative between Bucks and UCFB College of Football Business, has been set up dedicated to the study of the football industry. UCFB will deliver undergraduate degree courses in the operational and business facets of football and is the first institution of its kind in the world.

Brian Barwick, former chief executive of the Football Association, is chair to UCFB's Advisory Board. Other Advisory Board members include lifelong Burnley fan and former Government communications chief Alastair Campbell and Rachel Brown, the Everton and England goalkeeper. The institution's directors say its establishment is in response to and recognition of football's status as a global multi-billion pound business, requiring particular administrative, managerial and operational skills.

LEAP is the county sports partnership for Buckinghamshire, bringing together a wide range of sports businesses, local authorities, school sport partnerships, clubs, associations and individuals across the region.

Working side-by-side with LEAP, Bucks New University is involved in a number of new local, regional and national initiatives in the field of sports development and management.

Bisham Abbey
We have strong partnership links with Bisham Abbey, one of the UK’s National Sports Centres. We utilise their impressive facilities for our practical coaching sessions and work closely with key community partners based there, such as national governing bodies, to enhance our contributions to the local, regional and national sports community.

Local authorities
We have developed excellent links with a number of local authorities in the county, including Wycombe District Council, South Bucks District Council and Chiltern District Council, which have enabled our students to learn first-hand about community sports development work – a significant employment sector in the industry.
