Bucks New University is a founder member of UK Music's Music Academic Partnership (MAP) with universities. MAP is designed to maximise the employability of students and works to sustain the music industry by ensuring future employees have the right experience and skills. It provides valuable support to the industry through research into issues of vital importance to the industry.
UK Music is the umbrella organisation which represents the collective interests of the UK's commercial music industry - from artists, musicians, songwriters and composers, to record labels, music managers, music publishers, studio producers, music licensing organisations and the live music industry. The members of UK Music are: AIM, BASCA, BPI, FAC, MMF, MPA, MPG, MU, PPL, PRS for Music and the Live Music Group.
On one night in October 2015, a census of all live music being performed in Bristol will take place.
The purpose of the census is to check the health of live music, from grassroots to arenas, and to report on the cultural and economic significance of live music to Bristol.
